Got this shot of an elk while coming down the Tunnel Mountain road in Banff. There were actually two of them just eating grass along the side of the road, and they both had a fairly impressive set of antlers. Occasionally one would kick at the snow to get at more grass. We watched them for about 5 minutes or so, until several more cars showed up. Beautiful animals.
Gorgeous animal… what lens did you use to shoot this?
Thanks! I was using my Canon 100-400mm L lens.
Very cool. How is that 10-400mm? Is it sharp wide open or do you need to stop down?
Thanks. It’s actually pretty sharp, I almost always shoot wide open. Of course, that’s still only F4-5.6, but at over 200mm that still gives lots of dof.
Oh nice! ya must be pretty decent DOF on the 400 end I would image. Anyhow, good shot 🙂
