The Canada Geese have started arriving back in town, which is another sure sign of spring. I saw a couple in the air on the way to work last week, so decided to take a walk down by the lake to see if there were any more and sure enough there were. However, I don’t know how happy they were about being back this soon. There was very little open water to be found and they seemed rather cold and lonely. Especially the one I caught flapping his wings. He was honking a lot just while sitting in the water; my guess is he was trying to get some other geese to join him. The other two were off by themselves in a remote corner of the pond that had an open water area maybe 20 feet square. I tried to capture the feeling by including plenty of the frozen lake in the shots.
