So my wife and I did the Spartan Sprint on the weekend. Her cousin managed to convince us it would be something fun to do this summer. It’s a 5k run with 15 obstacles along the way such as climbing over 8 foot walls, pulling yourself through a set of monkey bars, flipping a tractor tire a few times, carrying or dragging heavy objects, etc. What happens if you can’t complete one of the obstacles? 30 burpees. I actually did better than I was expecting, and only failed 4 of the obstacles. It was kinda fun, but tough and it definitely took a toll on our bodies. I’ve done things that made me more sore, but I’ve never been sore in as many different places at the same time. The following pictures were taken by the Spartan staff photographers and show my wife and I going through a few of the challenges. We’re the ones in white – well what used to be white…
- Me at the top of the inverted wall
- Helping Dawn over the inverted wall
- Crawling through mud under barbed wire
- Emerging from the mud
- Leaping the fire at the finish
If you enjoy my photographs please consider making a purchase. All of the proceeds from the sale will go directly to help support our friends volunteering at the Seed of Hope in South Africa which is a great organization really making a difference in the community. Every little bit makes a difference, even a small digital download for your desktop!
So you had to do 30 burpees for every missed obstacle and you missed 4? That’s 120 burpees. One Hundred and Twenty BURPEES. I hope you got a beer and a gigantic piece of cake when you finished!
Yes, we did get a beer at the end. No cake though just a protein bar. And the truth is I only ended up doing around 100 burpees, don’t tell the Spartans 🙂
Well, gee. Only 100? No wonder you didn’t get any cake. 🙂
Oh, and is that your wife, LaDawnDuh in the photo behind you coming under the wire? That’s an awesome expression – love both versions! (The scowl and the victory smile)
Haha, yes that’s her!
