There were a few moments while I was watching this heron when I thought it was just a matter of seconds before I saw him plunge his head down to catch a fish. Unfortunately, my patience ran out before that happened. Still, I enjoyed seeing him and being able to be as close as I was which is unusual for this location as they normally stay on the opposite side of the river.
