A rare moose sighting in a park not far from where I live. This guy was stripping tree branches for food and wasn’t in any hurry to go anywhere. I found it interesting that he had a tag in his ear, so I guess the wildlife people have been keeping track of him. Ironically, or is it just coincidentally, this was on my Mother’s birthday when my Dad always used to be on a moose hunting trip. He no longer goes on those, so this year it was my turn to ‘shoot’ a moose instead. Click on the individual photos to see larger versions and exif details.

Beautiful captures. I think moose are very interesting.
Thanks Maralee. I agree they are interesting and I wish I saw them a little more often.
Awesome sighting and photos! I’m still looking to capture a shot of a moose. 😉
Thanks Donna! Hope you get to see one, are they around where you live, or would you have to travel?
I’m around the Chesapeake Bay mid-Atlantic east coast, so no moose here! We traveled a whole summer two summers ago throughout the mid-West region, and I never got to see one. Nor a bear, lol, another wildlife capture I wanted. Still on the bucket list! 🙂
Yeah it’s weird. I actually see more bears than moose, but I’ve gone 2 years without seeing a bear, then the next year seen a half dozen of them over the summer. You just have to be at the right place at the right time, but it’s not very predictable.
