Some waxwings seen in Whitecourt, AB. I thought they were Bohemian waxwings, except that no other photo I found of a bohemian showed the stripes on top of the head like you can see in a couple of these shots. So, if anyone has a species ID they can give or any insight I would love to hear about it!

Very interesting sighting with the striped crest! I’m no help on IDing but love these unique shots, have you contacted a local birding Facebook page maybe? I’m interesting in knowing now too!
My Mom shared it with her group and the consensus remains that they are Bohemians. Still haven’t found any explanation for the stripes though, and am not positive if they were on more than one individual.
A unique sighting for you for sure, very nice.
