Easter 2017

A week behind in posting this, but I was asked to take some photos for the Good Friday service at my church. I was able to borrow a 70-200 2.8L lens from a friend to use. This was extremely helpful in the low light situation. I definitely got some better shots than I would have been able to without getting very close to my subjects with my 50mm 1.4 lens, or trying to use my 18-135 lens that just doesn’t have a very wide aperture. Other than some fairly good portraits, this is my favorite image that I was able to capture. Kind of cliche, but it’s always pleasing.

We always find ourselves up pretty early when we first get to Hawaii, I suppose because of the 3 hour time difference to where we live. The good news is that provides an opportunity to see some sunrises. This photo was taken from the top of the bluff on Shipwreck Beach as seen in my previous post while waiting for the sun to come up.

The Big One

This was the largest tree in the park. As you can guess, it was at least 10 feet in diameter. They estimated that some of these trees could be well over a thousand years old. Pretty amazing. Taken in the Ancient Forest, near Prince George, BC.
