I wanted to try and get some fireworks photographs this year, so we decided to go downtown and stay up late despite having to work the next day. We found a nice spot on the hill near the High Level bridge and got settled. I was all prepared, setting up my tripod, dialing in exposure settings and pre-focusing my lenses so I could switch them quickly without needing to re-focus in the dark. What I didn’t anticipate was how low in the sky the fireworks ended up. This resulted in everyone standing as soon as they started and my tripod being too low to the ground. At that point I didn’t really have time to adjust much or move, or I would have missed most of the show. So, I just kept shooting with my remote shutter release and hoped for the best. I had to brutally crop most of the shots as they were about half dark sky, with the fireworks just visible above the heads in front of me. Even so, I think a few turned out to be fairly nice so here they are, enjoy the gallery!
